Bill Cosby has filed a defamation counterclaim against women who have accused him of sexual assault.
The lawsuit Cosby filed on Monday names accusers Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie.
The women all accuse Cosby of drugging and assaulting them.
“Mr. Cosby states plainly that he neither drugged no sexually assaulted the defendants and that each defendant has maliciously and knowingly published multiple false statements and accusations from Fall 2014 through the current day in an effort to cause damage to Mr. Cosby’s reputation and to extract financial gains,” Cosby’s attorney, Monique Pressley, told USA TODAY in a statement.
“Falsely accusing another of sexual assault is morally repugnant and subjected Mr. Cosby to severe emotional distress from public ridicule, shame, and contempt of such a nature that no reasonable person could be expected to endure it,” Cosby’s counterclaim reads.
