Former Christian worship singer, Katy Perry, left the Lord’s side for fame and now finds herself on the wrong side of the law.
A coalition of Christian’s most popular rappers have officially filed suit against the “Dark Horse” hit-maker and pop superstar for ripping off a beat from an award-winning faith-based rap, and using it in her profane hit song.
St. Louis News is reporting the suit was filed by Marcus Gray, known as Flame and Chike Ojukwu of St. Louis, along with Grammy-winning rapper Lecrae Moore, of Atlanta, and Emanuel Lambert, known as Da TRUTH, of Aldan, Pa.
The suit names Katy Perry, real name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson; Juicy J, born Jordan Michael Houston; Dr. Luke, born Lukasz Gottwald; Max Martin of California; Cirkut, born Henry Russell Walter; Sarah Theresa Hudson of California; and Capitol Records LLC.
Before “Dark Horse” ever galloped to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart earlier this year, “Joyful Noise,” written in 2007 and released in 2008 earned a Gospel Music Association Dove Award nomination for the best rap/hip-hop song.
