Ridley Scott’s epic Exodus: Gods and Kings easily shot to the top of the weekend box office, earning $24.5 million, according to official studio estimates.

The Old Testament tale starring Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton took advantage of a slow weekend to dethrone The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, which has held onto the top spot for the past three weeks.

It was not an overwhelming victory for the heavily promoted Exodus, made for a reported budget of $140 million.

Already a champion, Lauren Hill joined the ranks of esteemed athletes by being featured on her own Wheaties box.

In another achievement in an already incredible week, Hill was named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Of course, all of that likely pales in comparison to sinking her opening layup against Hiram Sunday.

That’s a killer debut, Denzel Washington.

The Equalizer, an update of the 1980s TV drama with Washington as a cinematic vigilante, took out the competition with a $35 million opening weekend, according to studio estimates from ticket sales firm Rentrak.
