The concept of a ‘black community’ or ‘black America’ led by figures like Al Sharpton is counterproductive and, at best, outdated. It’s time we spent more time concentrating on what unites us.

In light of the tragic shooting of Michael Brown, I’ve been troubled by the notion that a monolithic entity called “Black America” or “the black community” still exists in the 21st c

This summer I made a visit to Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, and on a tour of churches, I heard a fascinating explanation of how society functioned when the church was the place where the poor had their material needs met, not the government. The Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg is one example.

According to church records, Burton Parish formed in 1674 following the merger of several colonial parishes originating as far back as 1633. As a Church of England congregation

The tragedy and turmoil in Ferguson, Missouri—the fatal police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, followed by sometimes violent protests and a heavy-handed police crackdown—have once again brought the national spotlight on race relations in America. It has also revealed unusual political alignments, with libertarian-leaning Republican Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and some other libertarians and conservatives joining liberals and leftists to denounce abusive police behavior,

A pastor and bestselling author who was contacted by the White House after criticizing the president last year says he still believes Barack Obama is taking the country in the wrong direction.

Several weeks before the 2010 midterm elections, Dr. David Jeremiah, senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church of El Cajon, California, told OneNewsNow that he believed President Obama was "a very dangerous person" and that the American people should elect a Congress to slow down the train tak

Last week, with the opening of the Washington, D.C. memorial, our country rightfully honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His powerful voice summoned the non-violent protest of the infringement of civil rights of the African-American community.
Learning about King's speech and our American Civil War history in elementary school, I remember thinking, "I wished I lived north of the Mason-Dixon line. Those who fought to free slaves didn't come from my neck of the woods." Whenever we
