Fifth-Season of "Duck Dynasty" Premieres With 8.5 Million Viewers

Nielsen says "Duck Dynasty" drew 8.5 million viewers for its fifth-season premiere.

That audience was slightly higher than for October's fourth-season finale of the A&E reality show. But last summer, 12 million viewers caught the fourth-season premiere.

Set in Louisiana bayou country, "Duck Dynasty" follows a family that manufactures duck calls and loves to go bird hunting.

Wednesday's airing gave viewers their first fresh look at the series since it got caught up in an uproar.

By now you know that A&E has succumbed to the beat-down by fans and sponsors of "Duck Dynasty" and brought family patriarch Phil Robertson back to the show.

A newly surfaced video of "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson preaching against homosexuality arrives at a very inconvenient time for A&E.

Video of a 2010 sermon in which he grouped gays with people full of "murder, envy, strife, hatred" circulated online Friday. A&E suspended Robertson Wednesday from cable's top-rated reality show after he made anti-gay comments in an interview with GQ.
